A Valve anunciou por meio de seu blog oficial, a mais nova atualização do Dota 2, “Balance of Power”. Ela trará o novo herói Arc Warden, novos itens, o terreno do deserto e mudanças no balanceamento da versão 6.86.
O Arc Warden possui habilidades que vão de bônus na velocidade de ataque, o Magnectic Field, ao Tempest Double seu ultimate cria uma cópia exata do personagem com a possibilidade de usar as mesmas habilidades e itens. Além dele a atualização adicionará um item Arcano para Zeus, que inclui novas animações, efeitos e um emoticon animado.
Para os donos do Compendium 2015, o Balance of Power trará o tão aguardado terreno do deserto, um dos bônus oferecidos durante a campanha de arrecadação de fundos. Ele também será lançado com um pacote de música.
Já para aqueles que gostam dos custom games do Dota 2 poderão jogar no Colosseum, um novo mapa também com temática desértica. Ele estará disponível para todos os jogadores. Além disso o game recebe suporte a qualidade “Ultra” para as sombras, que agora são renderizadas com o dobro da resolução
Como todos outras as outras atualizações do Dota 2, um novo baú estará disponível em “Balance of Power”, o Nested Treasure II. Dentro dele estarão vários sets e itens do último ano ou a chance de receber uma moeda que pode ser trocada por qualquer item que não seja de qualidade rara e estava incluso em outros báus.
A interface também receberá algumas novidades em “Balance of Power”, sendo a principal dela a página de estatísticas de heróis, canais de chat privados, uma nova armory e um novo layout para a loja.
Talvez o mais impressionante são as mudanças de balanceamento da versão 6.86. O mapa ganhou agora dois novos neutral camps — um próximo ao secret shop do Dire e outro próximo ao do Radiant — uma nova runa e quatro novos itens. Enquanto isso, Oracle, Terroblade e Earth Spirit estão disponíveis no Captains Mode.

Fixed a problem that could cause fame rate hitches, especially for players subscribed to a large number of hero guides
Added a mechanism to Steam for Dota to tell it when you are in a match, so Steam should not patch the game. Steam never downloads updates to the game, or custom game items that have already been completely installed, once you launch Dota. This change ensures that Steam will also not update Dota if you exit the game or crash and try to relaunch Dota.
